NUTRITIONAL LABELING IN WINES

MATRICES ( A if accredited) : Red wines , Rosé wines , Sparkling wines , Sparkling wines , White wines , Wine

DESCRIPTION:

The analysis of the nutritional values of foods is essential for understanding their composition and their impact on health

The standard that regulates the obligation to give evidence of these values on the labels of food products placed on sale is EU Reg. 1169 of 2011 (and subsequent updates).

Although wine is primarily an alcoholic product, it also contains a number of nutrients (which it expresses as energy value in the form of calories) that may influence consumers' dietary choices;
Therefore, nutrition labeling provides important and useful information about the amount of calories (energy value), carbohydrates, sugars, and other nutrients in wine, enabling consumers to make informed decisions about their diet and lifestyle.

Nutrition Labels

In Wine, current regulations require feedback for the following elements:
- Actual alcoholic strength by volume
- Energy value (kcal)
- Energy value (kJ)
- Total fats
- Fats (of which saturated)
- Total carbohydrates
- Carbohydrates (of which sugars)
- Protein
- Salt (NaCl)
- Sodium (Na)
