VASSANELLI LAB ANALYSES
CHROMATIC CHARACTERISTICS (OPTICAL DENSITIES)
ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUE: Spettrofotometria UV-VIS
METHOD: OIV-MA-AS2-07B R2022
MATRICES ( A if accredited) :
Wine
A
DESCRIPTION:
The "chromatic characteristics" of a wine are its brightness and chromaticity.
Brightness depends on transmittance and varies in inverse proportionality to wine colour intensity.
Chromaticity depends on dominant wavelength and purity.
Conventionally, and for practical reasons, the chromatic characteristics of red and rosé wines are described by parameters of intensity and tonality.
The method is suitable for the determination of:
- optical density at 420 nm
- optical density at 520 nm
- optical density at 620 nm
