The package enables the determination of:
- Cyclic diglycerins
- 3-Methoxy-1,2-Propandiol
Cyclic Diglycerins are highly pure polyols with four hydroxyl groups produced by reaction, distillation and refining of industrial glycerol; two glycerine molecules bind to each other with different conformations to form 6 isomers. During industrial production, 3-Methoxy-1,2-Propandiol is also formed.
Determination takes place by solid phase extraction and subsequent quantification in GC-MS (gas chromatography with mass spectrometry detector).
The detection of compounds which are not present in the glycerine naturally produced during alcoholic fermentation is used as index for confirming an illegal addition of industrial glycerol to the wine.
To guarantee the quality of the adopted method, our laboratory participated, with positive results, in a european interlaboratory program.
